A woman was badly injured when a truck smashed into the SUV in which she was sitting on the side of the Pacific Hwy on Thursday night after that vehicle had itself crashed. The horrific scene played out on the Pacific Hwy at Coopernook, north of Taree, on the Mid North Coast of NSW at about 8.20pm. The woman had remained seated in the back of the SUV that had crashed on the highway, as the driver and front-passenger got out of the vehicle, when a truck then allegedly smashed into the wreckage.
The woman in the backseat of the SUV was seriously injured, and was taken to Taree Base Hospital, where she was then airlifted to another unknown hospital, NSW Police said. The woman’s condition is unclear, and 7NEWS.com.au has contacted the hospital for updates. The truck, driven by a Granville man whose young family were in the car, continued down an embankment after allegedly smashing into the SUV.
