Three members of one family killed in a car and truck crash on a Queensland highway have been identified. Steven Wheeler, 54, and his elderly parents Margaret, 81, and Robert Wheeler, 84, died when their car collided with a B-double truck on the D’Aguilar Hwy at Nanango, northwest of Brisbane, about 5.50am on Thursday. All three suffered critical injuries and died at the scene.
He said he would not “make presumptions” about the cause of the crash, but said the road would have been wet. Queensland Ambulance Service reported there had been “heavy fog” in the area at the time of the crash. “The message would be that everyone needs to drive to the conditions... whether it’s nighttime, wet roads, foggy roads,” Everest said. He said the family of the three victims, who all came from the nearby town of Booie, had been told of their deaths.
