Drivers looking to hit the brakes on soaring cost-of-living pressures are in luck, with petrol going for 99c per litre at a service station in NSW. Snaking lines of cars are expected to queue at Metro Petroleum on Bellevue Rd in Figtree, in Wollongong’s inner west, on Tuesday. Motorists will be able to fill up on a variety of cut-price fuels — including petrol, diesel and gas — at the bargain price between 3pm and 5pm.
Memberships start at $19.90 a month and include savings, rewards and other perks tied to its affiliated businesses. There were huge lines of thirsty cars when the promotion was run for the first time in Sydney’s southwest. Outside of the sale hours, unleaded petrol was advertised at Metro Petroleum Punchbowl for 192.7c and drivers were keen to take advantage of the almost $1 per litre in savings. One ute driver in the line brought his 600L fuel tank and told 7NEWS he intended to fill it up.
