Peaky Blinders creator confirms Cillian Murphy's return for new movie

Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight has confirmed that a film version of the hit BBC series is in the works - with star Cillian Murphy set to reprise his role as Tommy Shelby.

Now the TV writer has confirmed that production on a Peaky Blinders film will get underway later this year, with shooting set to begin in Birmingham this autumn.Speaking to BirminghamWorld at the premiere of his new BBC show This Town, Knight also confirmed that Murphy, who starred in the series as Peaky Blinder gang leader Thomas Shelby, would return for the upcoming film.

Knight also shared his pride over Murphy winning the Best Actor Oscar for his performance in Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer, with the 64-year-old screenwriter saying the win "was so deserved". Speaking earlier this year, Murphy said that he was "totally" open to returning to Peaky Blinders. after playing the role of Thomas Shelby for a decade over six seasons.
