Comic Peter Kay has announced he wants to bring his classic Channel 4 comedy Phoenix Nights back to life - but as a film. The 50-year-old actor has admitted to still thinking of new ideas for the sitcom in his new book.
It was created as a spin-off from an episode in Peter's spoof docu-series, That Peter Kay Thing. While the cast hasn't reunited since 2015 at Comic Relief, this looks like it could change soon as the actor seems keen for his creation to hit the screens once again. "The chance of a helicopter ever landing is, of course, zero," Peter continues, according to The Sun. "As the years pass, I'm becoming more like Brian, but if Phoenix Nights rose again it'd have to be for something very special, maybe a film?As Peter embarked on his comedy comeback last year, the star's childhood pal and Phoenix Night's co-star Paddy McGuinness shared a rare insight into their friendship as he celebrated Peter's success.
"Regardless of all the great things he’s achieved on television, there’s literally no one who comes close to what he does live. The amount of tickets he sells is unheard of in the comedy world and beyond! He’s a one off folks, enjoy him, I don’t think you’ll see the likes of him again? Certainly not in our lifetime. I’m very proud of you son." Paddy cheekily added: "PS I haven’t got tickets. PPS I don’t need any. #peterkay.
