Thank you for the music, HMV, but we don’t need you any more | Penny AndersonHigh-street super chains are a thing of the past, but smaller record shops will survive, says the writer and artist Penny Anderson We should be supporting high street shopping / retailers as we know them... Somewhat ignorant puff piece - true music stores fleeced customers with high margins on cd's. Failed to see or turned a blind eye to the rise of sdigital downloads. HMV had decent buyers in the non chart related genres. The vinyl revolution is over blown, prices are excessive. A bit of a snotty article.

HMV goes into administration for second time in six yearsMore than 2,200 jobs at risk as music retailer appoints administrators after weak Christmas sales Wow. I honestly thought HMV bowed out 40 years ago. Such a shock when well known established high street names fall into financial difficulties. As the report suggests - high rents plus other reasons have caused this to happen. It opened a new store in Wigan a month ago and honestly shouldn't have bothered; it's like a charity shop selling bargain bin CDs and DVDs.
