I spend most of my time living and working in Vancouver. To be honest, on my time working on Dune I was in Budapest for three months with a month in Jordan, then it was back to the DNEG office in Vancouver until the pandemic lockdown. Then it was working from home along with the rest of the population.I’m from Bournemouth on the south coast, a nice seaside town.It was amazing to be honoured with a win at the BAFTAs, such a wonderful experience.
Q: Were you a fan of Frank Herbert’s novel Dune when you were a kid? If so, how did you feel when you were asked to do some world building for this film?Article contentHonestly, it was my dad that got me into reading Frank Herbert’s Dune. He knew that I was interested in science fiction as a genre, so he gave me his copy to read. I think it’s the first and maybe only fiction book that I’ve read that had a glossary in the back of it to explain terms in the book.
The most rewarding part for me, I think, is having been there on-set when the main plates were shot and being able to follow that right through to the final version that makes its way into the final movie. It gives you a great sense of accomplishment.Article content
