MELAKA: Traditional oil lamps will light up the home of Melaka executive councillor G. Saminathan this coming Deepavali celebrations despite his detention by the authorities for alleged links with a terrorist group.

"He is still our comrade, and we are not going to abandon him when he needs us the most during this difficult period," he said when met at his service centre in Bemban here on Friday . All three men were detained under the Security Offences Act 2012 in a major police crackdown for allegedly attempting to revive a terror group – Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam.

Wong said Chief Minister Adly Zahari had also been very supportive and compassionate to the affected families.
