It was announced that Ariana Grande would be playing Alyssa in Ryan Murphy's film adaptation of 'The Prom' for Netflix. However, it seems like she actually won't be in it despite reports.

, filming for the movie is expected to start in December. However, Ari just announced a bunch of new tour dates for that entire month on top of the ones that she has previously announced beforehand. It would be pretty tough for her to juggle a tour and filming a movie at the same time.

While it seems like Ariana was first confirmed to be in the film,is now reporting that she won't be involved at all. Whether this also means she won't be helping to produce the music is a different story, but it would certainly be exciting if she was still involved in the production in another way. After the first reports came out that Ariana would be playing Alyssa, many fans of the musical were upset to see her playing a character who is a lesbian woman of color.
