Performers hope to honour a legend of the theatre as they prepare to unveil their Cabaret Festival show, the first to be funded from the late Frank Ford's bequest.

The vivacious Ryan said she would gladly give back the funding for a chance to see the unassuming Ford once again as a quiet but reassuring presence in the audience.

The accomplished O'Donovan said she first came across Ford when she was still at university and just beginning her career. Ford's bequest totals half a million dollars over the next decade for both cabaret artists and Fringe performers.
