Two elderly passengers were allegedly assaulted when a man went on a violent rampage on an Adelaide train. The city-bound train was stopped due to an aggressive male passenger, with South Australia Police called to Elizabeth South railway station at 11.30am. A train driver was heard on a radio scanner saying there was a “fair amount of blood” in the carriage. The elderly passengers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
“He just started punching him in the face and there was blood everywhere. Then someone grabbed him and pulled him off,” one passenger said. Phil said the suspect boarded the train with a bottle of alcohol, had an argument with two people, then turned his attention to him and allegedly called him a “racist pig”. “Then he spat blood and all that in my face,” he said. John, 89, alleged he was also called a racist then hit.
