Shackleton saved his men from the ice, and now Tim Jarvis wants to save the ice from us

Add articles to your saved list and come back to them any time.The cry of penguins heralded the cracking of ice that sank Antarctica explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton’s ship the Endurance in 1915.

Now Jarvis has brought Shackleton’s 1914 to 1916 expedition to life again, this time without the risk of trench foot, in the virtual reality documentary“A hundred years ago, Shackleton’s goal was to save his men from the ice. Today it is the ice that needs saving from the human-induced climate change that threatens it,” Jarvis said.

As a climate scientist, Jarvis said he had long realised the best way to communicate what was happening to the climate was through adventure and stories.
