Tensions were high when Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge appeared on live TV for an interview with veteran journalist Mark Robinson. Beveridge had taken issue with criticisms of his gun forward Cody Weightman, who had unfairly made headlines in the game against North Melbourne after some free kicks he received were questioned by Roos coach Alastair Clarkson. “What has he done wrong there?” Beveridge continued. “He’s been grabbed around the neck? So what’s happened there is there’s been a journo bait Clarko ... “Clarko’s saying, ‘Let some go if they’re trivial’. Not one of Cody’s was trivial, they were all there. I don’t know whether he was baited for too long, but some of the names that Cody’s been called by a journalist ..., I mean, have some respect for the kid.” Robinson said he was not aware of “the names” Weightman was being called.
