The strategy will be based on a reformed public funding model which has yet to be agreed by the Government. It is envisaged that RTÉ will shed 400 jobs or 20 per cent of the workforce through voluntary redundancy.Oliver Callan: ‘I should have got the same as Ryan Tubridy was being offered’ The payment of €40 million in two tranches was agreed on principle last November after a dramatic fall-off in licence fee payments.

“I welcome the work already undertaken by RTÉ, and in particular welcome the further commitments which the chair and director-general have now given to continue this reform process.” Ms Martin said she hoped reforms would help transform the broadcaster into a “more equitable and transparent organisation and employer”.

One of its proposed governance reforms is understood to be a greater emphasis on transparency with regard to remuneration at the organisation with suggestions that it will public the pay of its highest paid management figures as well as its leading broadcasters.
