The mystery surrounding the disappearance of a British teenager on holiday in Tenerife continues to deepen as police intensify their search efforts on the island. Jay Slater, a 19-year-old apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire, travelled to the Canary Island with friends for the NRG Weekender music festival.
Following the news of his disappearance, Jay's mother Debbie and brother Zak flew out to the island, reports the Mirror. As the pieces of information come together, both the police and Jay's loved ones are desperately seeking answers about his whereabouts. Tuesday, 2am: Police officers notify Jay's mother Debbie Duncan and stepfather Andy Watson about his disappearance.Where is Jay Slater? Local police say they are making all efforts to locate the missing teen and are collaborating with the British Embassy. Debbie has travelled to Tenerife in search of her son.
Lucy explained to the MEN: "He's gone on a night out, he's gone to a friend's house, someone that he has met on holiday. One of the people he has met has hired a car out of here, so he's driven them back to his apartment and Jay has gone there not realising how far away it is. Police on the island have dispatched mountain rescue teams to comb the area where he was last seen. On the day he disappeared, temperatures reached a balmy 26 degrees Celsius.
