The case of a British teenager who vanished while on holiday in Tenerife continues to be shrouded in mystery as the search intensifies on the island.
8.35pm: Jay is seen in the last Snapchat clip before his disappearance, wearing a grey T-shirt with a green trim. Jay was last known to be in Rural del Teno, a rugged region to the island's west, near Santiago del Teide town. He had been lodging with mates in the south at an apartment, and according to his friend Lucy, he tried to trek back on foot, a journey taking roughly 11 hours.
On the day of Jay's strange disappearance on the island, temperatures were recorded at 26 degrees celsius and mountain rescue teams have been dispatched by local police to search the areas where he was last sighted.Lucy, a friend of Jay's, tells us that he had met up with other friends who drove him in a rented car to a different part of the island. Jay missed his bus back and found himself stranded in the rural hilly part of the island while attempting to navigate back on foot.

Speaking to LancsLive about the unsettling circumstances surrounding Jay's disappearance, stepfather Andy Watson, aged 63, spoke about the devastating moment when officers showed up at their Oswaldtwistle home barely 24 hours later: "When the police said 'the best thing you can do is get yourself out there' we knew it was bad," he told us. "This was his first holiday on his own. I'm just hoping he's gone to another party.
