While chatting on “David Tennant Does a Podcast With . . .,' Fey shot down Tennant’s claim that her portrayal of Palin on SNL had a prominent impact on the outcome of the 2008 election.

Tina Fey attends the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor ceremony at the Kennedy Center in October 2018 in Washington. By Sarah Polus Sarah Polus Reporter and editorial aide for Reliable Source Email Bio Follow April 17 at 3:59 PM Tina Fey played coy when asked in a recent interview if she was the force that led to former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin’s eventual political defeat.

“I think she was the nail in her own coffin, ultimately,” she said. “We went into it wanting to make sure that we were very fair, that we weren’t just swinging, throwing punches.” Despite her convictions about the lack of substantial impact her role had on politics, one thing is undeniable: It left a mark on pop culture. Her impression is now generally regarded as one of the most famous portrayals in SNL history, and excited people before she had even accepted the gig.Fey, who left SNL in 2006, told Tennant the part was basically assigned to her by the masses.

You’re an extension of CNN but definitely more entertaining.

nbcsnl doesn’t sway informed people. As Chevy said, it been trash for the last several years. Others have called out it’s far left writings and excess political content. Sure, there’s always been some politics, but cmon. It just isn’t funny anymore. It just isn’t SNL anymore.

Trump Trump Russia Trump some Russians Trump Russia collusion. Scripted arm of (X)

Really mtv played out well for Clinton in 92

I agree that it can’t. Just ask ThisIsSethsBlog or read All Marketers Tell Stories. People believe what they want based on their own worldviews. This show simply attracts like-minded people and builds a connection through them!

Either can the idiots at WP!

That's not downplaying, it's reality. Especially true of the current cast. And Che and Jost never improved after their second season on Update. Lorne knows it's a mess but wants to keep it chugging along because it's his baby.

Best comedians to me are ones that you don't even know their politics. You can't be truly funny if you are pushing an agenda. So obviously I don't watch SNL.

I mean, shes right. But it doesn't stop them from trying.

comedy simply exaggerates what people already think about political figures.

Only posting can changes people’s minds, and hearts I might add.

Me neither it’s a stupid show, and it’s now even funny .

Ask Jerry Ford.

It's a perceptive question. We tend to assume rather than measure, evaluate, or assess impact and effectiveness

Tell that to my big bag of Schweddy Balls.

It sways stupid people, which is about 50% of their target audience. RealityCheck

Tend to agree. It was starting to be funny again, but then I completely switched off when Trump hosted and they treated him like a lovable crazy Uncle. Ever since then they've had buyer's remorse and mocked him constantly. And it isn't funny.

But $4000 in Russian ads is another story

SNL sways people about as well as masturbation produces children.

I totally agree!

Well she’s very wrong

It can't possibly sway me because I haven't even watched it since it was funny. Yeah. That long ago. For real. I'm pretty old.

Love how they still get all whiney when Tina Fey says anything.

Says the woman who single-handedly killed Sarah Palin’s career. Oh Tina, you know it’s true, and we all owe you a hearty debt of gratitude.

She's right. It can't sway people. They used to lampoon Reagan and Clinton, two wildly popular presidents. They also lampooned Bush 1&2. But that suddenly stopped with 44. Then became vicious and unfunny with 45. What it can do is alienate half its audience by becoming partisan

That's because no one watches anymore.

Disconnected She Is..

It really can't. Politicians put too much credence on celebrities. Normal people don't care what they think. Perform like a dancing monkey and when your done, tv goes off.

Most people aren't as stupid as they assume they are.

Isn't nbcsnl SNL just a mirror on society?

wow...someone listens to DavidTennantPod besides me?

I dont think anyone watches them so shes right

What? Baldwin doing the same dumb impression every week isn't going to save the republic?

I didn't even know it was still on the air.

Analysis | ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is a really big deal — for more reasons than you may thinkThe new movie concludes an unprecedented run: the most successful Jenga game of interconnected films in Hollywood history. It really isn't. No. It's just a cartoon. The reason some think it's a big deal is that the average person has such little faith in Hollywood's ability to accomplish anything even mildly complex. The blueprints (comics) have been ready for decades to do this. HW has just lacked the focus to pull it off until now.
