On Tuesday, Save the Children International , the charity organisation, and the Abuja Environment Protection Board organised tree planting in the Piwoyi community of the federal capital territory to mark this year’s World Environment Day.

The charity also organised an art and photography competition among secondary schools in the nation’s capital to promote environmentally friendly practices. Students who took part in the competition presented artworks and photographs depicting the theme of the 2024 World Environmental Day, ‘Land restoration, desertification, and drought resilience’.

The schools that participated in the competition included Grace Lead Academy, Orozo; Community Staff School, Asokoro; Crescent Pearl Leadership Academy, Mbora; GSS Wuye; Government Science School, Pyakasa in Maitama; GSS, Jabi; School for the Gifted, Gwagwalada; and Glisten International Academy, Jahi.
