A little-known rule is causing a parking nightmare in an inner-city suburb of Melbourne. There are currently more than two dozen caravans and trailers parked on Alexandra St, which borders the cemetery in St Kilda East.

Dozens of caravans and trailers left on St Kilda street. But as there are no signs indicating restrictions, so people are free to park their caravans, boats or cars there as long as they like — even if they live nowhere near St Kilda. According to locals, some of the caravans stay parked on the street for the entirety of winter. “None of them live locally,” St Kilda East resident Brian Murray said.
