David Fifita to stay with Gold Coast Titans beyond 2024 in stunning backflip

NRL superstar David Fifita has turned his back on the Sydney Roosters and will stay at the Gold Coast Titans beyond this year after agreeing to trigger his contract extension with the club. The news comes just days after reports that the 24-year-old had agreed to join the Roosters on a deal believed to be worth close to $3.3 million over four years. Instead Fifita will remain loyal to Gold Coast, where he will continue to play until at least the end of 2026.

“Despite his management making the initial approach to the club and Fifita personally informing the Sydney Roosters’ chairman and head coach of his intent to join the club last Thursday, Fifita has since expressed doubt about his decision,” the statement said. “The club has elected to withdraw its offer with the view that it is in the Roosters’ best interests.
