Jane (Angelina Jolie) and John (Brad Pitt) watch their burning home on Mr. & Mrs. Smith

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary The ending of Mr. & Mrs. Smith includes plenty of action and romance, but the biggest question is whether John and Jane manage to reignite the spark in their relationship. Mr. & Mrs. Smith begins with the pair at marriage counseling due to increasing issues.

What Happens To John & Jane After Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s Ending John & Jane find some semblance of happiness John and Jane are in a bigger predicament than ever once their employers decide to work together and put a bounty on the pair. Eddie, a close friend of the Smiths, declines the bounty and tells them they're in a sticky situation with no apparent way out.

With John and Jane more in love than ever, they revisit their marriage counselor in the final scene and reveal that their relationship is thriving. It seemed impossible at the beginning, but this ending was inevitable thanks to the chemistry between Jolie and Pitt throughout Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Tying the movie together with the couple putting on a united front brings it to an emotionally satisfying conclusion.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith’s Ending Sets Up A Sequel There is plenty of sequel potential with Mr. & Mrs. Smith As John and Jane survive the Mr. & Mrs. Smith movie, it's surprising that a sequel has never materialized. Angelina Jolie revealed in 2010 that she and Brad Pitt were interested in making Mr. & Mrs. Smith 2, but the story pitch lacked originality, so they didn't believe following up on it would be beneficial for them or viewers.
