Aaron Sorkin News

Sorkin, who depicted the creation and early years of Facebook in 2010's 'The Social Network,' said the tech giant has since then played a major role in the US' sharp political polarization.

LOS ANGELES, United States — Aaron Sorkin, Oscar-winning writer of "The Social Network," is working on a follow-up movie about Facebook that will explore the company's role in the January 6, 2021 assault on the United States Capitol.

"Facebook has been, among other things, tuning its algorithm to promote the most divisive material possible because that is what will increase engagement," he said. Hundreds of people who invaded the Capitol on January 6, 2021, were motivated by then-president Donald Trump's false claim that the election had been "stolen" from him."The Social Network," directed by David Fincher, was a huge commercial and critical hit.

Fincher last year told the Guardian he has discussed the project with Sorkin but warned that delving back into Facebook would be "a can of worms."Flex your summer! 4 must-do activities to make this sunny season your best yetFor only P399: Elevate your skincare routine with your favorite serum brands at Watsons' Online Sale on April 26
