Qantas will be rolling out free Wi-Fi access on its international flights from the end of this year. The airline has kick-started a program to accelerate the rollout, after the expansion of Wi-Fi services from domestic to international flights was deferred until satellite technology was up to scratch.

There’s a major upgrade coming for international Qantas flights. Free Wi-Fi has been available on Qantas domestic flights since 2016. International Wi-Fi will be accessible on the airline’s A330, 787 and A380 aircraft, with global broadband services provider Viasat providing the service. Work to fit a Viasat antenna onto the first A330-200LR aircraft is set to be completed this week, marking the start of Qantas’ retrofit program.
