Death in Paradise actor dies 'suddenly' aged 60

British actor Adrian Schiller has died "suddenly" and unexpectedly, his agent has announced. The 60-year-old previously appeared in the hit BBC show Death in Paradise, as well as Netflix's The Last Kingdom and Victoria on ITV.

Adrian had been playing Ealdorman Aethelhelm in three series of the Netflix show, The Last Kingdom, from 2015 to 2022. The British historical drama is based on Bernard Cornwell's The Saxon Stories set of books, and initially premiered on BBC Two before moving to the streaming service for series two. In January this year Adrian was also seen on screen as criminal Drake Underwood in an episode of BBC detective series Father Brown about a heist gone wrong, according to the PA news agency. In their statement announcing his death, his agents said Adrian “enjoyed a varied and successful career across all media”.
