BBC The One Show star Adrian Chiles heartbroken as he shares news of dad's death

Adrian Chiles has shared his heartbreak after his father passed away. The TV presenter revealed his dad Peter Chiles died age 86 in early March in a tear-jerking column for The Guardian.

Adrian admitted he was "shocked at how shocked I am" by his dad's passing and suggested he had been "unprepared" for it. He detailed his grief and emotions in the hard-hitting column. He heartbreakingly added: "I couldn’t, and can’t, get my head around much at all. About the only thing I am sure of is that 50 years of worrying about it was properly pointless."

The TV presenter admitted it feels "self-indulgent" when he shares the news with his friends who have lost parents - or siblings or children - before their time. He said "these tragedies" understandably "consume our attention" but deaths of "aged parents remain bloody awful".
