Attorneys for Jussie Smollett said Tuesday that all criminal charges against the"Empire" actor and singer have been dropped. Smollett had been charged with falsifying a police report by claiming he was the victim of a racist and homophobic attack.

Prosecutors number one goal isn't justice, but to have a winning record. Even if they have a small chance of losing, in this case because they fucked up, they rather drop the case than lose in court. Conversely, they'll go after you even if you're innocent, if they can win.
