A Coles shopper has set tongues wagging after revealing an all-new packing option at their local store. Sharing on Reddit, the customer revealed how they used a Coles “Swap-A-Box” to pack their groceries during a recent shop. In 2023, the supermarket giant started trialling the new boxes — which cost $2 each — with Click&Collect orders in 29 stores across Victoria, Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia.
” A third wrote: “I remember back in the dying days of the last century, my local supermarket had a wall of empty boxes by the checkouts for people to put their groceries into. Makes so much sense, boxes get recycled, supermarket doesn’t need to dispose of them.” Said one more: “I remember that too, they won’t let you have any empty boxes now. They flatten them straight away.” Others added that the boxes made much more sense than paper bags, given the complaints the 25c carriers have attracted.
