Bukit Aman says they have received no information on links between any Malaysian and Tamil film producer Jaffer Sadiq. Federal Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said they were aware of a news report claiming Jaffer had links to international drug smuggling activities, including in Malaysia.
"Based on our intelligence, this is inaccurate as no information has been found on the involvement of Jaffer with any Malaysian individual in drug smuggling activities," he said. He added that they would continue gathering more intelligence on this matter in a bid to curb drug smuggling into Malaysia. Indian journalist A. Shankar, a former police officer, made the claim while commenting on the case of politician and Tamil film producer Jaffer Sadiq, who was linked to a RM1.13bil drug bust. In an interview, Shankar claimed that the syndicate has links in Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia. "Since they (NCB) mentioned Malaysia, let me give you a clue. Jaffer's boss is in Malaysia. He is very influential in the Indian cinema industry
