American actor and comedian Adam Sandler was a surprise guest at Stamford Bridge on Monday as Chelsea recorded a 3-2 win over Newcastle United.
The 57-year-old, who was recently named Hollywood's top earner following the success of his stand-up comedy tour amongst other projects, is a self-confessed novice when it comes to football. But after being spotted playing a pickup game of basketball at a leisure centre in West London this week, Sandler continued his sporting adventure with a trip toThis isn't the first time Sandler has watched the Blues. Back in 2009, he attended a game between Fulham and Chelsea at Craven Cottage – and was told to "shut up" by those around him.
Speaking about his experience to a local radio station, he said: "My friend opened the newspaper and saw an ad for the game."He said 'do you want to go to a soccer game', I said 'yeah that's a great idea, I've never been to one'. "So we all went there and they were really nice, we were at Fulham vs Chelsea and it was at an old-style venue . We sat in the Chelsea section and the tunes were rocking!"Not a soul saw me, although I stood out a bit," he laughed. "I was the only one not singing and the only one wearing a baseball hat; there wasn't a single baseball hat in the crowd.""I want to learn more and more," he added.
