Young Saoirse Ruane, who tugged at our heart with her brave fight against bone cancer, has been fondly remembered as a "wonderful little angel." Saoirse, who inspired the annual Late Late Toy Show Appeal, died last Tuesday after a prolonged illness. In a touching farewell, scores of local residents lined up outside SS Peter and Paul's Church in Kiltullagh, Co Galway, for her funeral Mass on Sunday afternoon. The procession was led by two Garda officers on motorbikes.
Saoirse's school friends from Kiltullagh National School joined forces with members of the local sports clubs to form a guard of honour.
