A baby boy in the UK has skin so delicate that even a gust of wind could hurt him, his parents have said. Abe Hersham, who is just 10 months old, has been diagnosed with a rare and incurable skin condition called epidermolysis bullosa . The degenerative genetic condition causes internal and external blisters at the slightest friction. Abe’s condition is so severe, even a strong wind could cause a cornea in his eye, resulting in vision loss.
” As well as causing wounds, EB can result in internal complications affecting the throat, mouth and oesophagus. This means Abe, who is fed through a tube, will need a soft diet his whole life. Life expectancy for those with EB is about 40 years. “It’s so difficult to give him the right amount of calories because, with so many open wounds, he needs way more than a normal kid,” Alex said.
