A series of stunning photos have captured the incredible moment a golden eagle swooped on a deer. Amateur wildlife snapper Colin Black snapped the once-in-a-lifetime images while driving through Glenshee in Perthshire in 2018.
One image shows the giant bird of prey grabbing the young deer's neck as it tries to run away. The fawn attempts to escape from the eagle's clutches and speeds away with its predator in hot pursuit. Speaking about the amazing scene he had witnessed, he said: "I will probably never experience anything like that again. I was out trying to photograph the stags because it is rutting season.
"I don't know if the deer escaped but one of the eagles had a big chunk of something in its claws. When you see an eagle in real life, you see how big it is. And when you look at the pictures, you can see it is almost the same size as the deer."
