SARAH FERGUSON: Now the last time I saw you live was your show 'Body of Work’. Now before that, you had presented quite a lot of dark material. You describe that one as a feel-good show, so you've done some dark material, you are now doing some brighter material. So where do you go to next? It's, you know, I tried the feel-good situation. It worked for me for the moment, but I feel like it as a dark world, and so we need some darkness to match.
HANNAH GADSBY: Look, I think effectively, essentially there is nothing wrong. It is quite a healthy impulse to be self-deprecating, but when you live in a system where the self-deprecation is compounded by broader deprecation that doesn't come from you, I just felt jack of that, you know, sort of like, "Well, hang on, I might just not do that," and it felt very good.
Sometimes I really enjoy causing harm to like, I don't know, Picasso because I think he’s fine, he is dead, but I don't mind being careful.HANNAH GADSBY: Mmm. Look, people laughed at me, so he there is an argument to be made that I was a funny child, but my lack of awareness why people were laughing at me sort of, there is a darker undercurrent to that, but I think that's how I developed my, you know, performance strategies, you know.
