. Mötley Crüe wasn’t a particularly relevant band at the time. They’d released their worst-performing album the year before, and were touring small markets like Scranton, Pennsylvania, and Rochester, New York. So “The Dirt” didn’t sell because of an intense public hunger for anything Crüe-related — it sold because it delivered on the promise of the title.
All of these stories are told with just the barest pretense of shame — yeah, these guys know what they did was bad, but there’s almost no contrition, just a “can you believe we got away with this crazy shit” incredulousness. That’s what made the book a bestseller, and what sent Hollywood on a 13-year journey to adapt it into a movie.
From left, Members of Motley Crue Nikki Sixx, Vince Neil, Tommy Lee and Mick Mars stand on stage after performing at Brendan Byrne Arena circa 1984.That’s what the trailer promises, too. “The Dirt” exists so people can watch rock stars act like rock stars. Or at least — what we think rock stars are supposed to act like.
THINK You, like, just now, figured that out? Like, but for this documentary, who could have known?
THINK Let me explain something to you people that just cant understand the sexes. Women that dress scantily or leave nothing to the imagination then demand to be treated with respect either in a work environment or backstage are delusional and the problem with reporting rape.
THINK Ever gone to a boy band concert? Tweens barely dressed in a 1/4 yard of fabric flashing everything they’re still developing. Their moms are even worse.. they’ll do ANYTHING to get their baby girl backstage. Backstage... in reality is quite boring these days. It’s a workplace
THINK Hollywood home to rock stars, movie stars and fat producers. Or as I see it the birth place of mainstreaming hate, violence, rape, child abuse and drug addiction. Thanks for giving us all that. Then taking the time to tell the rest of us how we should live and who to vote for.
THINK I’m so down with us finally ending the celebration of dangerous or cruel behavior by rock stars.
THINK Forced anything on anyone is wrong. We know this, but I encourage you to also mention all the memoirs written by some of the well known groupies. Groupies are a thing and the gals are quite unapologetic about their conquests. Just saying.
THINK But the musical ‘heroes’ mentioned in the piece ARE predators.
THINK They're not heroes. It's a job like many others. There will always be people who are not the right fit for a job, or dangerous for them to be in society. Mental healthcare should be available to all that need it. 😎
THINK Motley crue rocks
THINK Dr. Hook 'we got a lot of little teenage blue eyed groupies who'll do anything we say'
THINK so glad dont use Netflix instead of being a movie platform its one with a sjw agenda pass
THINK I have not read this, but the basic notion that we can “make” anyone something they are not is ridiculous. Their true nature becomes emboldened and then encouraged.
THINK no we don't/God gave free will and is innate in all souls./don't go pushing this off when someone is tempted because they have talent and money is dangled in front of them... the wanted to be famous... all are tempted all must use their gut and common sense and GOD!
THINK You people sound like the Taliban
THINK It was the Russians! Lmfao!
