Beloved Harry Potter actress Miriam Margolyes has revealed she has undergone major heart surgery. In an interview on the Table Manners podcast, Margolyes, 82, spoke candidly about the operation, explaining “I’ve got a cow’s heart now”. “Well, not the whole heart. I’ve had an aortic valve replaced by a cow’s aortic valve,” the star clarified. “I don’t know how common it is. I’d never heard of that operation. But it saves you from having open heart surgery, which would be infinitely more invasive.
On May 7, Margolyes shared a selfie from her hospital bed, thanking her “precious friends” who were thinking of her. “I did survive and am still in The Royal Brompton Hospital, certainly till Sunday,” she wrote. “I am growing energy but it’s still not quite me. “I am putting this so you know how grateful I am for lovely messages.” But the following day, May 8, the actress shared an update - that she had to extend her hospital stay because of a chest infection. “I spoke too soon.
