A young father-of-two is being mourned after he was killed in a freak accident near Rockhampton on Sunday. Family and friends have flooded social media with tributes for 27-year-old Jake Bashford, who was killed while washing his car which rolled on him outside a property on Hall St, Mount Morgan about 3pm on Sunday. The sedan rolled onto Bashford before crashing into a fence nearby, police say. Bashford was taken to Mount Morgan Hospital but later died.
Family members, friends and neighbours have expressed their shock over Bashford’s sudden death. “Can’t believe it, I loved that boy so much,” one friend said on Facebook. “All round awesome mate, forever going to be missed by many. “RIP Jake, my thoughts and prayers are with your family in this tragic time, forever 27.” Another person said Bashford was “one of the very few genuinely nice people I’ve ever known”. “Seriously sad to lose someone like you, mate. You will be missed,” they said.
