Summary SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Jason Momoa might be getting cast as Lobo in James Gunn's DC Universe, and the short-lived Superman TV show Krypton has already shown that character's potential in live-action. While the DCEU will properly be finished at the end of this year, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may not be the final time that Momoa takes part in the comic book genre.
After months of speculation about what his mystery role may be in the DC Universe while leading up to the release of Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, recent reports are claiming that Momoa is being looked at to play the DC alien bounty hunter, Lobo. While he has mostly been depicted in animated DC movies and shows, Lobo has one live-action incarnation that many may have missed as it was only for a short period of time.
With General Zod, Doomsday, and Brainiac as the principal villains in Krypton season 2, Lobo was able to add some comedic beats to what was a very dark season for the series while still being one of the baddies. From his intense, violent nature to his cussing and wicked humor, Lobo was, in a lot of ways, DC's response to 2016's Deadpool, only without the breaking-the-fourth-wall-aspects.
Why Krypton & Lobo's Spin-Off Were Canceled At the start of Krypton season 2, there was an attempt to set up a shared universe, as a Lobo spinoff show was announced before the season premiere. However, SYFY canceled Krypton after the season 2 finale and passed on Lobo due to the former struggling in ratings and being expensive, including pricey licensing fees. Warner Horizon reportedly tried shopping Krypton and Lobo to other outlets.
