The Actors of the Year awards were established in 2014 with the aim of discovering rookie actors who have potential to lead the future of the Korean film industry. One actor and one actress who showcased outstanding performance will be selected among the independent Korean films chosen for the New Currents and Korea Cinema Today Vision categories.

Jung Woo received great attention for his film “Wish” in 2009, and he won Best New Actor at the 47th Grand Bell Awards in 2010 for his performance in the film.
