SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Summary When a Breaking Bad spinoff about Saul Goodman was first announced, it sounded like a horrible idea, but Better Call Saul proved to be a worthwhile successor and a show with some pretty perfect scenes. In many ways, Better Call Saul surpassed the quality of Breaking Bad, by using its built-in fan base to allow the story to play out much slower and deliberate.
9 "So You Were Always Like This" Walter White's cameo in Better Call Saul could have come off as cheap fan service that was unnecessary for the story the spin-off was telling. However, the character was used just the right amount, letting his presence affect Jimmy's story instead of overshadowing it. This is especially true of his scene in the finale, where Jimmy thinks back to when he and Walter were about to be relocated, and Walter judges him for his schemey behavior.
6 "I Broke My Boy" In Breaking Bad, Mike Ehrmantraut was an interesting, if somewhat basic, character. However, Better Call Saul gave Mike enough time and attention to turn him into one of the best characters in either show. A key example of this came early on in the season one episode "Five-O", where Better Call Saul's Mike explains what happened to his son after he refused to be a dirty cop.
4 "Together, We're Poison" The biggest question of the second half of the show was "What is going to happen to Kim?". She wasn't in Breaking Bad, so something must have happened to make her leave Jimmy's life. While Kim dying or having to go into hiding were popular theories, the reality ended up being much more heartbreaking.
