Shirley Ballas struck down with illness days before Strictly live show

Last month Shirley said some of the inspiration for storylines in her novel came from real-life experiences that when she recalled, lead people’s jaws to ‘hit the ground’. ‘I’ve worked with a brilliant writer called Sheila McClure and we’ve covered it all – bullying, backstabbing, dancers having sex in broom cupboards – all these things that I’ve seen, heard or witnessed,’ she added when speaking to Good Housekeeping.Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on BBC One and iPlayer.
