Firefighers respond to a blaze that broke out inside a clothing store in Blue Island. No one was injured but significant damage was done to the property.
“There is some significant property damage that we are still assessing,” Wogan said. “We thankfully had no injuries or loss of life.”Images from the fire in Eclectic Artistry Boutique, on Western Avenue between New Street and Vermont Avenue, show smoke billowing from windows of the store, firefighters on the roof of the two-story building and several blown-out windows.
“The tenant of the clothing store came running out of the building and she was frantic,” said Joe Murphy, who was an eyewitness of the fire and operates Three Sisters Antique Mall directly across the street. “She was, to the best of my knowledge, the only one in the building at the time.”
