Is it worth spending $39 to hang out with the terrifying Vecna or snoop around Joyce's living room?

, or at the brand-new Stranger Things: The Encounter – Singapore which has just landed at Bugis+ and is on from June 30 to Oct 1.

The new immersive pop-up is not quite like Universal Studios Singapore’s Stranger Things-themed Halloween Horror Nights haunted house from five years ago. For starters, there are no jump scares so you can explore the nostalgia-filled iconic locations from the hit Netflix series with a peace of mind. At the main venue at Level 7 of Bugis+, there are six rooms re-created from the series, and the atmosphere is mystifying, thanks to a slew of special effects, lights and the set design. Whether it was at game night in Hellfire Club, snooping around Joyce’s living room, or coming face-to-face with the terrifying Vecna in the Creel house, we were constantly on our toes - it felt as if we were part of Eleven and her crew. The experience itself will take anything from 30 to 45 minutes .

After all that adventure, visitors find themselves emerging at a replica of Starcourt Mall, where you can enjoy ice cream at the Scoops Ahoy stand or grab a slice from Surfer Boy Pizza. There's also a massive retail zone where you’ll find exclusive Stranger Things merch, from Hellfire Club trucker caps to retro Palace Arcade windbreakers . To make things more personal, you can customise your own tote bags and tees on the spot .Tickets start at $39 for the full Stranger Things Encounter .

There’s also a Stranger Things Encounter visitor centre at Bugis+ Level 2 which is open to public, where you can buy merch and get a photo opp or three. Admission is free on Level 2.June 30 to Oct 1. Open Mon-Thur at 2pm-10pm and on Fri-Sun at 10am-10pm
