The first Kraven the Hunter trailer gives a proper look at the origin story of the iconic Spider-Man villain, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson. Despite Morbius' critical and commercial failure, Sony's Spider-Man Universe is not going away any time soon. For the next Spider-Man-centric character to headline their own film comes Kraven the Hunter, featuring Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Sergei Kravinoff.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT At this year's CinemaCon, Kraven the Hunter debuted exclusive footage for the crowd, which is where word of mouth started to come to light. Now, after only a few months, Sony Pictures has officially debuted the first official Kraven the Hunter trailer and poster.
J. C. Chandor directed Kraven the Hunter, which was written by Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk. This will be the first film in Sony's Spider-Man Universe to get an R-rating, which the tailer footage makes clear with plenty of blood.
There appears to be a conflict of some sort between Sergei and Dmitri, with Kraven's half-brother seemingly not approving of the actions of Taylor-Johnson's character, stating, 'You are exactly like our father, just another man hunting for a trophy.' Kraven the Hunter's trailer also sees the titular antihero clashing with Crowe's character, suggesting that perhaps one of the villains of the story is his own family.
Ariana DeBose also gets introduced as Marvel's Calypso, who is Kraven's love interest in the comics. Whether or not Kraven the Hunter will be the film that will get this franchise closer to finally introducing this world's Spider-Man remains to be seen. The brief scene where Sergei is surrounded by spiders definitely feels like an obvious little nod, but time will tell if that will be a payoff to anything.
