Love Island presenter Maya Jama has opened up on how 'special' it feels to be presenting her first summer series of the show, and her nerves about living up to fans' expectations

Love Island presenter Maya Jama has said hosting her first summer edition of the hugely-popular dating series feels “special” but admitted she's feeling the pressure to live up to expectations.

Speaking to reporters at the villa in Majorca about the summer series, she said: “It’s special. I feel now the first one, I’ve got it and we’ve done it, all the nerves are gone a bit and now I’m ready to go.” Reflecting about returning to the show, she said: “The only pressure I feel is because it went well last time, so I just want to keep it well.”

When the Irish beauty decided to step down, Maya then took over, and it follows on from a varied career in the entertainment world which has seen her host a show on BBC Radio 1, present the Mobo Awards and BBC Three’s Glow Up: Britain’s Next Make-Up Star.
