The sale of the Ottawa Senators will go on without one of its star attractions with the deadline for binding bids looming Monday.

The race is wide open and the expectation is the bids will now be somewhere between $800 million and 1 billion. Owners Anna and Olivia Melnyk have told bidders they want to retain 10% of the franchise, which means the price will be a lower as a result.
