Taxi booking service Free Now has ended its sponsorship of The Tommy Tiernan Show on RTÉ, saying it is"disappointed about the comments made at his Vicar Street gig regarding taxi drivers".
The firm said it works in close partnership with taxi drivers throughout the country to provide an important transport service for passengers across Ireland.It decided to conclude its sponsorship of the show last week but"will continue to work with RTÉ on other projects going forward". Earlier this week RTÉ presenter Emer O'Neill said the comedian and talk-show host phoned her to apologise for a joke he made at a recent comedy gig she was attending in Dublin's Vicar Street.
The former Home School Hub presenter walked out of Mr Tiernan's Tomfoolery show earlier this month after he made a joke that offended her during his stand-up set.In a statement RTÉ confirmed that Free Now has decided not to continue its sponsorship of the Tommy Tiernan Show on RTÉ One.
So is FreeNow_IE ignoring artists creative license ! Their freedom in their creative space to present content ..seriously !
