Prosecutors in Santa Fe County, NM made the announcement Thursday morning that Baldwin will be charged with involuntary manslaughter. The film's head armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed was also charged with involuntary manslaughter. Both face a maximum of 5 years in prison if convicted.The Assistant Director, Dave Halls, has agreed to a plea deal for the charge of negligent use of a deadly weapon. He will get a suspended sentence and 6 months probation.
Interestingly ... no charges will be filed in connection with the non-fatal shooting of director Joel Souza, who was hit in the shoulder by the same bullet that killed Halyna. In announcing the charges, the special prosecutor, Andrew Reeb, who was appointed by the D.A., said,"The evidence clearly shows a pattern of criminal disregard for safety on the 'Rust' film set. In New Mexico, there is no room for film sets that don't take our State's commitment to gun safety and public safety seriously."

These charges are bogus. This was a tragic accident and I'd like to ask that Sheriff 'WHERE did the live ammo come from?' I called the Santa Fe Sheriff's Office to ask that question and got transferred all over the place & eventually got sent to their PR guy's vm. Figures.

All weapons should be handed to the intended actor directly from the armorer for the specific video shot and returned to the armorer after the shot. Weapon are always in the armorers control. The armorer should assume everyone is ignorant about guns.

Alec Baldwin lied to investigators—at least TWICE: He said he would never point a gun at another person. Baldwin also said he never had his finger on the trigger. FBI experts tested the gun and concluded it could have only have been fired from pulling the trigger.
In my opinion the main person responsible should be the person who’s job it is to load the guns for the movie with blanks. Someone handed him a gun with real bullets and that person should be charged before anyone!
Hope he can get the jurisdiction changed back to California. Or that the jury in NM chooses to not convict. Accidents happen.

Why dont people check to make sure guns are empty when handed to them? Trust but verify. I would never assume a gun is unloaded unless I checked it myself.

The head armorer wasn’t even on set to check the gun before it’s use, Alec picked it up on his own without her knowledge. Then he lied about pulling the trigger and also said he didn’t know he shot anyone until 45 minutes later back at his trailer. He straight up committed murder
