This is a moment in pop culture, much like the first film, but for some of us this movie was and will be a tad difficult to stomach. It starts off with a moving tribute to Chadwick Boseman.
This movie bothers me on a few levels. First, we’re dealing with a rapacious studio whose calling card is churning out as many films as it can, very few of which are memorable, least of all this picture. This nation that is so well run, wealthy and progressive … there is literally not one African country remotely like it. And yet Spider-Man’s Peter Parker is from Queens, New York. A real place in the US.They have us flocking into the cinema to watch a representation of the Africa that could have been. And we all know the various things that prohibited it from becoming that. Some of which were self-inflicted, mind you.
He comes from a place called Talokan, which is derived heavily from Plato's fictional civilisation of Atlantis. However, he is also clearly of Mayan descent, with the character relying heavily on Mesoamerican culture. Neither of the two Black Panthers are good enough. They aren’t even better than Avengers: Infinity War, which was by far the best movie in the Marvel multiverse, which itself needs to stop eventually.

Until we are in a position of producing these type or levels of movies I think we should shut up. This is not our money our story. It's purely for entertainment and it happens to have black people on it. Other than that, it may very be hunger games

We're flocking into the cinema to watch a marvel superhero movie with a flying guy with wings on his feet... It's not that deep and we're not watching it because it's a 'representation' of Africa
