Singer Aaron Carter found dead inside his home, TMZ reports

He was 34-years-old. In recent years, Carter has opened up about his mental health and addiction with drugs. Carter was a pop icon in the early 2000s with hit songs like "I want Candy" and "I’m all about you." His brother, Nick Carter, is part of the popular boy band Backstreet Boys. In 2019, Nick filed for a restraining order against Aaron, claiming his brother threatened to kill his pregnant wife and unborn child. In a Sept. 2019 tweet made by Aaron, he claimed he hadn't seen his brother in four years. That same year, Aaron said he was diagnosed with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.

In 2017, he admitted to taking a mixture of benzodiazepines and opiates to alleviate his stress and anxiety. That same year, Carter and his girlfriend were arrested on DUI and drug charges in Georgia. Carter was accused of driving drunk and possession of less than 1 ounce of marijuana and paraphernalia.Their family had an E! reality series in 2006, "House of Carters." It lasted for one season and also included their sister Leslie Carter, who died at age 25 in 2012.

I don’t claim to know much about Aaron Carter or his family. However I’m very sad for them. Mental health, addiction and creativity often all go together. I don’t think he just choose to go out and start using at some point, it’s a way to escape reality and it’s a disease. RIP

There's more to this story than 'He drowned' was there drugs in his system? Did he use or did someone else give it to him via injection, in a drink, food, etc... without his knowledge? This is absolutely heartbreaking 💔 He has had a sad and tragic life. RIP Aaron Taken to soon

Gone too soon. But this is the gamble you take when addiction takes over. Prayers to his family and friends. I've known way too many people technically 'kill themselves' bc of addiction and all were too young.

I hate to even admit this... but I've heard from many 'intellects' that being in an altered state is better, yet why do some take it too far, for far too long?

Everyone thinks its easy to just not do drugs but you can't just turn it off. If you have an injury and get prescribed medication and you are on it for a long time and try to come off of it well it don't work unless you have a doctor on standby to help with the withdrawal RIP

He's gone, but I feel horrible for his family. No one expects to have to bury a loved one before they're old and gray. It's tragic for anyone, but imagine when it's someone in the spotlight who people are saying nasty things about. They're probably dying inside. Pray for them.
