The time needed to evaluate the admissibility and weight of this report means that Ontario Superior Court Justice Gillian Roberts will not be handing down her sentence on Thursday.
After some back and forth, the court decided to proceed with aspects of the sentencing hearing that could be done today, including the submission of character letters for Hoggard and most notably the reading of a victim impact statement. Roberts said she feels it’s important she take the time to review all of the submissions made in court before announcing her sentence.“Everyone has worked so hard on this case,” she said. “Everybody wants certainty and I’m sure Mr. Hoggard, more than anybody in this room, wants certainty.”in a November 2016 incident involving an Ottawa woman that took place in a Toronto hotel room.
He was also required to stay in B.C., except to attend court in Toronto, and do regular check-ins and random compliance checks.Hoggard’s wife, Rebekah Asselstine, pledged $200,000 for his bail.
They're trying to find a way not to convict him
Maybe the payoff hasn't been decided yet
Skinneeer. Soo sad
